Useful Resources for Competitors
Groceries and other Shops:
- Cadboro Bay Village – 1.3 km north of RVYC at the corner of Cadboro Bay Rd and Sinclair Rd.
This is a neighbourhood shopping area with Pepper’s Grocery store (has prepared sandwiches and wraps, plus a deli counter), bulk food store, pharmacy, liquor store, coffee shop, pub, restaurant and more. - The Old Farm Market – 2.1 km southwest of RVYC at the corner of Cadboro Bay Rd and Estevan Ave.
You will find a grocery store with lots of local produce (has some prepared sandwiches), coffee shop/bakery, and at Willows Centre takeout pizza, sushi, liquor store, ice cream - Hillside Mall – 3.2 km west of RVYC on Hillside Ave at Shelbourne St.
This mall has a medium sized Thrifty’s grocery store, Canadian Tire (hardware/household supplies), Shopper’s Drug store, Walmart and
many other stores.
Marine Supply Stores:
There are two stores 30 km north in the Sidney area:
- Tradewinds Boaters’ Exchange – 2300 Canoe Cove Rd., North Saanich
- Spencers Marine Supply – 2240 Harbour Rd. Sidney
In Victoria there is:
- Trotac Marine Supply – 7.2 km west of RVYC on Jutland Rd at Gorge Rd E
Sailmakers:
Two sailmakers located 30 km north in the Sidney area.
Both are willing to do sail repairs:
- Leitch & McBride Sails – Makes sails for boats big and small, including sails for various boats in our Victoria 2.4 fleet, and you will see many Victoria 2.4s protected by their excellent boat covers. (10189 McDonald Park Rd #10, North Saanich, BC V8L 5S9)
- North Sails – Provider of many 2.4 sails. (2212 Harbour Rd, Sidney, BC V8L 2P6)
Dining and Bar Service on site at Royal Victoria Yacht Club:
Lunch and Dinner are served 5 days a week Wednesday to Sunday, in both the Chart Room (bar) and the Swiftsure Dining Room.
- Note: Wednesday dinner is a BBQ cooked outside.
On Wednesdays, you are welcome to eat outside or take your food inside to the Main Lounge or Chart Room - Bar service is available 6 days a week Tuesday to Sunday.
